I remember
Hot sun dancing off the colorful buildings
Bicyclists and pedestrians ruling the streets
Waking up to fresh fruit smoothies
Listening to the rain roar over the terra-cotta tile roof
I remember
Weaving through the maze of fruit and meat that is the marketplace
Riding in the bed of a pickup truck through back roads
Buying salt from the rear window of someone’s house
I remember
Playing soccer in the street
Inviting kids to Bible club
Mastering the tronpo (toy top)
Trying to remember the names of children
I remember
Serving at a care home for the elderly along with ten guys on fire for Jesus
Breaking bread with believers
Playing ping pong with recovered drug addicts
I remember
Men growing in the faith
Lives transformed
The joy of unity
I remember
Addictions
Bondage
Despair
As well as
Hope
Life
Rescue
I remember the week I spent in Nicaragua. Last month I went to visit my host family in Granada. It was a good time of preparation as we prayed together and dreamed about the coming year. I am excited to rejoin them as soon as I finish raising support.
